Mike Valentine has served as equipment manager for Saluki Athletics since August, 2009. He oversees all aspects of the equipment operations and works closely with the Saluki football program.
Valentine, a Greenwood, Ind. native, got his start in equipment management as a bat boy in 1997 with the Indianapolis Indians (AAA franchise of the Cincinnati Reds). From there, he worked as the visiting clubhouse manager from 2000-04 for the AAA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. One of the highlights of his stint was working the 2001 AAA All-Star game. In 2005, the Brewers affiliate moved to Nashville where Valentine served as a clubhouse manager for the Sounds who were also the Pacific Coast League Champions that season.
In 2006, he was named an equipment manager at Tulane University working primarily with baseball and football. He also worked three Sugar Bowls, three New Orleans Bowls, the 2007 season National Championship game, and first and second rounds of men's and women's basketball tournaments.
Valentine is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. He graduated from DePauw University in 2004 with a degree in history. He was a member of the football team for two seasons until he moved to student assistant coach due to injury.
