William Becque joined the Southern Illinois University media services staff as an Associate Sports Information Director in October of 2015. He handles publicity for the women's basketball and track and field teams.
Becque, a Carbondale, Ill. native, returns home after spending the past year at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. He covered all 13 sports that Smith offered, and exponentially increased the Pioneers social media presence, leaving the all-women's college ranked 152nd out of 422 Division III institutions, according to D3SocialMedia.com.
Prior to his time at Smith College, Becque spent two years as the Sports Information Director at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa where he oversaw the publicity of 24 NCAA Division III sanctioned sports. He also served as the primary brand manager and played a major role in developing the Athletic Department's social media strategy.
Becque graduated from Knox College in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in political science. He became the Sports Information Co-Director at his alma mater shortly thereafter, a position he held for two years before pursuing his MBA, and working as a graduate assistant, at Waynesburg University.
