Lee Weld Blog - Rain Delays
Southern Illinois sophomore pitcher Lee Weld is keeping a blog throughout the entire 2011 season. Weld, who is going to miss the entire year because of a shoulder injury, will talk about his rehab and what is going on with the Saluki baseball program in his blog. Here is his fifth entry of the season...
Hello Saluki Baseball fans,
I'm back to give you an update on how my rehab is going and to give you a look at last weekend in Memphis.
I had a doctor's appointment last Wednesday in St. Louis to determine how my shoulder was healing and if I would be allowed to advance to my next stage.
Everything I heard from the doctor was great news, especially about where I'm at in my recovery. After doing x-rays and numerous measurements, he determined that I was about six weeks ahead of where I should be in terms of range of motion. My strength was good and he was extremely pleased with everything that had happened so far.
I've been able to stop going to my physical therapist and I now just continue to work with the trainer. It's difficult to get all of my rehab in on the road because we're extremely busy during the day and we're in a rush to eat at night. I've been able to keep up pretty well even though Monday's are tough to want to wake up and do rehab since we get back from our trips late at night.
Last weekend in Memphis during our Friday game against Eastern Kentucky, I participated in something that I have never been a part of. During the rain delay, a ball was tossed to our dugout from their team with tic-tac-toe on it, which escalated into a full on competition of who could outdo the other.
This all turned into a very funny spectacle that I will remember for the rest of my life. From dancing to old school fake war tactics, it turned into a hilarious spectacle that kept all of us from going crazy from boredom of a rain delay.
Even the coaches, Hendu included, were laughing at everything that was going on. The groundskeeper for Memphis said that he had never seen something that funny during a rain delay in his whole time there.Â

I'm looking for another good and busy week with the games we've got coming up. Thanks for reading and Go Dawgs!
