Team Notes
- SIU improved its record against Eastern Illinois to 41-27-1 overall and 17-15-1 in games played in Charleston.
- SIU improved to 19-9 in non-FBS road games under head coach Dale Lennon.
- Southern improved its road win streak to five games after going 4-0 in MVFC road games in 2013. SIU is 8-1 in its last nine non-FBS road games. Five of those road wins in that streak have come over teams ranked in the top 15 nationally.
- The win was head coach Dale Lennon's ninth win at SIU over a ranked team on the road. SIU is 9-4 against ranked teams on the road under Lennon.
- In the 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons, Lennon's teams are 15-3 on the road against non-FBS foes.
- SIU outgained EIU 155 yards to 11 in the third quarter. SIU's defense was on the field for only nine plays and forced three 3-and-outs.
- SIU won the time of possession battle 18:54 to 11:06 in the second half.
- Southern Illinois recorded a sack for the 52nd time in the last 54 games.
- The Salukis had at least five tackles for loss for the 19th time in the last 24 games.
- SIU held Eastern to 126 yards rushing. Only one Saluki opponent in the last 41 games has rushed for more than 200 yards; Southern has rushed for more than 200 yards 15 times in that span.
Player Notes
- Boo Rodgers intercepted a pass in the first quarter to end an EIU drive. It was the fourth interception of his career and his first since picking off a pass against Eastern Illinois in 2011.
- MyCole Pruitt moved into third place on SIU's all-time receiving yardage list. With 61 yards tonight, Pruitt now has 1,838 for his career, passing Justin Roebuck (1,809 yards, 1989-92) for third on the all-time list.
- Pruitt also caught seven passes, which made him the second player in SIU history with at least 150 career receptions. He has 151.
- Pruitt caught a pass for the 33rd time in his 34 career games. He caught at least two passes for a 19th consecutive game.
- Thomas Kinney joined the top-10 list in school history in career PATs. By going 5-for-5 tonight, Kinney is 51-for-52 in his career, which leads the top-10 list in terms of percentage.
- Kinney hit a 50-yard field goal against the wind. He hit a 52-yarder last year vs. Western Illinois, making him one of only two players in school history with two career 50-yard field goals.
- Agnew's three TDs tied career high from his first career game at Oregon State, vs. Sacramento State.
- Tyler Williamson tied career high in tackles with 11.
- Billy Reed had a career-high three receptions for 33 yards. He came into the game with five receptions and 31 yards in his career.
- Freshman Hans Carmien caught the first two passes of his career, the second of which was a TD.
