TEAM NOTES
- SIU won for the 12th time in the last 13 meetings with Western Illinois
- SIU started conference play with a win for the third time in the last four seasons
- SIU outscored Western Illinois 24-3 in the second half. In Southern's five games this year, it has outscored opponents 83-13 in the second half
- Southern Illinois had four sacks in the game. SIU has at least three sacks in all five games this year and came into the game ranked sixth nationally in sacks.
- SIU has at least one sack in 55 of its last 57 games
- SIU's offensive line held the opponent without a sack for the third time this season
- SIU has at least five tackles for loss in all five games this year and 22 of the last 27 games.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Nick Neidig boomed a 75-yard punt that was downed at the one-yard line. It was the fifth-longest punt in SIU history
- Courtney Richmond intercepted his second career pass
- MyCole Pruitt went over 100 yards receiving for the second-straight week. He had nine catches for 106 yards. In the last two weeks, Pruitt has 19 catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns
- Pruitt's two touchdowns moved him into a tie for fourth place on SIU's career receiving TD list with 17
- Mark Iannotti had a career high 272 yards passing in the game.
- Chase Allen has double-digit tackles for the third-straight week
- Mika'il McCall averaged 7.5 yards per carry on nine rushes to lead the Salukis with 68 rushing yards
