Cody Forsythe SIU Player Bio
One of the most successful pitchers in Saluki Baseball history, Cody Forsythe returned to Southern Illinois as a student assistant coach in Fall 2017.Â
Forsythe is the SIU career leader in game started (49) and innings pitched (346.2). He is fifth all-time at SIU in strikeouts with 246. Forsythe was a three-time All-Conference pitcher and a two-time MVC Pitcher of the Week.Â
Forsythe was one of the best pitchers in the MVC throughout his career. In 2011, he had a 1.59 ERA in the league. In 2012, his MVC ERA was 1.43; and he posted a 2.79 MVC ERA in 2013. In 2011, he ranked 10th in the nation in fewest walks allowed per nine innings (0.96).
Forsythe was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2013 MLB Draft, and he spent three seasons playing professional baseball in the minor leagues.Â
