Nathan Frame returned to the Saluki Football program in 2023 as the special teams coordinator and defensive assistant. He was also on head coach Nick Hill's staff at SIU as a quality control (2017) and a graduate assistant coach (2018-19).Â
The Salukis have ranked among the nation's best in numerous special teams categories under Frame. SIU was 14th in the nation in 2023 in kickoff return defense (16.76) and 17th in net punting in 2024 (39.95).
Prior to returning to SIU in 2023, Frame spent two seasons at the University of Mary (DII) as the wide receivers and tight ends coach and special teams coordinator.
In 2021, Mary led all of Division II in passing yards per game (356.6) and had two of the top receivers in the country — Danny Kittner (1,723 receiving yards, 18 TDs) and Luke Little (1,262 yards,  20 TDs). Kittner was named the conference Offensive Player of the Year, while Little was named First-Team All-Conference.
In 2022, Mary led the conference in kickoff return average, while Kittner was named a First-Team All-Conference returner.
Frame spent the 2020 year at Louisiana College (DIII) as the wide receivers and tight ends coach and special teams coordinator.
Frame played football at Sterling (KS) College (2013-16) where he started for three years at wide receiver and was a First-Team All-Conference selection in 2016. In addition to football, he was also an all-conference indoor and outdoor triple jumper for the Sterling College track & field team.
Frame graduated from Sterling College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2017, and a master's degree in kinesiology from Southern Illinois in 2019. Frame and his wife, Erika, have one son, Asher.
