Esther Lee joins the Salukis for her second season as an assistant coach for the 2014-15 season. She joined the staff for the Spring 2012 season. Lee helped the Salukis to two tournament wins and two individual wins in her first semester as an assistant coach.
Lee served as a Pro Shop Assistant at George Dunne National Golf Club in 2013, and most recently held the same position at Harborside International Golf Club in Chicago, Ill.
Lee came to Carbondale from a successful collegiate career at Chicago State, where she played for current Saluki head coach Alexis Mihelich for three seasons (2008-11). She also played for two seasons at Santiago Canyon College in California. At Santiago Canyon, Lee was named the Most Valuable Player and qualified for the California Junior College State Finals in consecutive seasons. She finished third in the state finals in 2007-08.
Lee then transferred to Chicago State where she played for the Cougars for two seasons under Mihelich. She helped Chicago State win the IPFW Fall Invitational defeating the Horizon League champions, Butler, in 2008 for the program[apos]s first team tournament victory.
She redshirted in 2009-10 but returned for her senior season, helping the Cougars to win three events, including medalist honors at the Spring Chi-Town Showdown. Lee was a Great West second-team All-Conference selection and was named to the Great West Tournament All-Conference team, after helping the team place third at the Great West Conference Championships.
Lee, an Irvine, Calif., native, graduated with a bachelor[apos]s degree in individualized curriculum from Chicago State in 2011 and speaks fluent Korean.
