Scott Named Player of the Week in Gateway Conference

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois linebacker Bart Scott was named defensive "Player of the Week" Monday by the Gateway Conference.

Scott was instrumental in the Salukis' 23-17 win against Illinois State, a preseason Top 25 team. He had 16 tackles, including 10 solo stops, as SIU won its first game.

The senior from Warson, Mich. also had a sack, three tackles for loss and an interception. On the season, he leads the team in tackles (47), tackles for loss (11.0) and sacks (4.5).
