CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University athletic department has declared Saturday's home football game against Youngstown State "Student Appreciation Day."
All students, high school age or younger, will be admitted to the game free. With the University closed this week, students will be asked to sit on the East side of McAndrew Stadium, where SIU's students normally sit.
"We're playing the 10th-ranked team in the country, and it's a great opportunity for students to watch a college football game," Saluki head coach Jerry Kill said. "The game will be televised on Fox SportsNet, and the weather is supposed to be good, so we hope the kids will get behind us and be our 12th man."
The game kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
