Saturday the Southern Illinois University Carbondale cross country teams will host the 26th annual Saluki Invitational at the SIU Cross Country Course. The women's 5K race will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 10:35 a.m.
The meet features 15 regional teams including Murray State, Saint Louis, Southeast Missouri State, and Missouri-Kansas City as well as conference foe Evansville.
The Saluki women, who will be looking to capture their seventh Saluki Invitational title, are led by Becky Cox Katie Meehan, Julie Roundtree, Marissa Jelks, and Katie Henning who all have posted top 10 finishes this season. The five runners will be integral in the makeup of the Saluki attack as the Dawgs take to the starting lines to defend their Saluki Invitational title from a year ago.
As for the men, SIU will look to build on its third place finish from last year's Saluki Invite. Christopher Owen, Joe Zeibert, Ryan Hauser, Andrew Warnsing, and Shane Kelly spearhead the charge as all have finished in the top 10 at least once this season.
