Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2-6, 0-1 MVC) will take a break from its Missouri Valley Conference schedule with a non-conference match against St. Louis University on Wednesday, March 28 in St. Louis, Missouri at 3:30 p.m.
The Salukis are coming off 7-0 losses to #21 Indiana State University and #50 Ball State University last weekend and hopes to rebound against St. Louis on Wednesday.
"Obviously I want to win the match, but we have to look at each match we play and try to win each match. The top of the lineup has been successful, but we have to get the lower half to play a little better to win some more matches," said Missy Jeffrey, Saluki head coach.
Despite two losses, Jeffrey says the team is playing better than before and expects to win some more matches this season.
"Everybody is playing better after last weekend as a team and individuals and we're going to try to win every match we can the rest of this season. The weekend was something we can build on and St. Louis is the first step," added Jeffrey.
After the St. Louis match, the Salukis will face Murray State University on Friday, March 30 at 10 a.m. in Murray, Kentucky. The Murray State match has been moved up one day from the original schedule date of Saturday, March 31 by the Murray State staff.
