SIU Men's Golf Heads to MVC Championships

Southern Illinois University Carbondale's men's golf team will head to the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Monday, April 30-Tuesday, May 1, at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
Illinois State will play host to this year's event as nine of the league's 10 members including Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Evansville, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Southwest Missouri State and Wichita State will take part in the annual tournament.
Wichita State is the defending league champion as the Shockers earned the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament by taking the MVC Championships crown last year at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Ill.
SIU is led by the junior Brian Kolmer who is averaging a score of 74.4 per round while shooting a second best 18 rounds in the 70s this season. He is followed by junior Brad Dunker whose average per round is 76.1. In addition, Dunker has shot a team leading 21 rounds in the 70s with a low score of 71 on the year.
