Southern Illinois is set to compete at the Hawkeye Invitational, hosted by University of Iowa, at Blue Top Ridge on April 20–21. The Salukis will look to bounce back after a 15th-place finish in their last event. Following a strong fall season, the team is aiming to regain consistency and return to top form in tournament play.
This marks the final event before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which will take place April 26–28 at Annbriar Golf Course, hosted by Illinois State University.
The Hawkeye Invitational will be played over two days, beginning Monday, April 20, with 36 holes, and concluding Tuesday, April 21, with 18 holes. The tournament will feature a shotgun start at 9 a.m. (CT) on both days.
Fourteen schools are set to compete: Iowa, Drake, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, Missouri State, UMKC, North Dakota State, Air Force, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, DePaul, Omaha, and Southern Illinois.
The 2026 tournament marks the 32nd edition of the Hawkeye Invitational. Iowa has won 17 of the previous 32 championships. This year's event will be held at Blue Top Ridge for the first time after previously being contested at Finkbine Golf Course.
Spanning 7,432 yards, Blue Top Ridge was named the top golf course in Iowa in 2026 by IowaGolf.com. The par-72 course was designed by Rees Jones, who has created over 100 courses across the United States, including several U.S. Open, PGA Championship, and Ryder Cup venues. Situated along the floodplain of the Iowa River, the course features multiple water hazards that will challenge competitors throughout the tournament.
