SIU Men's Tennis Defeats Bradley, Wins First MVC Match

Southern Illinois University Carbondale (3-11, 1-4 MVC) won its first men's Missouri Valley Conference tennis match of the season on Friday, April 13 when the Salukis beat Bradley University 5-2 in Peoria, Illinois.
The Salukis received singles wins from #1 Valentin Epure (6-4, 6-3), #2 Alon Savidor (6-2, 6-1), #3 Peter Bong (6-2, 6-1), #4 Tim Marsh (6-1, 6-2) and #5 Chris Carpenter (6-1, 2-6, 6-3). SIU also won the #2 doubles match behind Savidor and Marsh (8-2).
The Salukis finished the weekend with a 1-2 record after 7-0 losses to the University of Louisville on Thursday, April 12 and Illinois State University on Saturday, April 14.
SIU didn't win a match against Louisville and won only the #2 doubles match against Illinois State by Savidor and Marsh (9-8).
The Salukis return home next week to host four matches in five days against Evansville (April 18), Northern Iowa (April 20), Drake (April 21) and Creighton (April 22) at University Courts.
