Women's Track Finishes Third At Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshman Mariann Ahuna won the triple jump with a leap of 11.74 meters, leading the Southern Illinois University women's track and field team to a third-place showing in a tri-meet against Big 10 powers Indiana and Ohio State on Saturday.
Ahuna, a native of Tallin, Estonia, also placed fourth in the long jump (5.16m), scoring 10 of SIU's 54 points. The host Hoosiers edged out Ohio State in the team standings, 134-120.
Junior Latrice Gray added a second-place showing in the high jump (1.73m), and freshman Kelsey Toussiant placed third in the 400 meter dash (58.49) to highlight SIU's day.
Other notable performances included fourth-place finishes by Christen Carducci in the mile run (5:27.12), Katie Meehan in the 3,000 meters (10:31.17), and Katy Ritten in the shot put (12.81m).
SIU will be back at home this weekend at the McDonald's Invitational, which will begin Friday night at 6 p.m. at the SIU Recreation Center
