Bong and Remigio Win Doubles Match At ITA Regionals

Tulsa, Okla. - Peter Bong and Gian Carlo Remigio of the men's tennis team pulled out a first round win in doubles competition this weekend at the ITA Mid-American Regionals. The duo defeated Mark Muskievicz and Marijon Panzic of Bradley 8-3 to advance to the next round.
Bong and Remigio lost a tough match against Drake's Jack Frankowicz and Felipe Montenegro, who won 9-7 in the round of 32.
The two SIU players were the only members of the men's tennis team to compete in this year's tournament. Both athletes were not able to overcome their singles opponents as Bong fell to Anthony Perkins (Drake) 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 and Remigio lost to Henry Choi (Indiana State) 6-2, 6-2.

Anthony Perkins (Drake) def. Peter Bong (SIU) 6-0, 4-6, 6-3
Doubles:

Jack Frankowicz/Felipe Montenegro (Drake) def. Peter Bong/Gian Carlo Remigio (SIU) 9-7
