Women's Track and Field Sign Five

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's women's track and field coaches recently announced the signing of five student-athletes to national letters of intent.
"I'm really excited about bringing this group into the program," said head coach Connie Price-Smith. "They will make a huge impact next year."
Sherlenia Green, a sprinter and long jumper from Vernon Hills, is a three-time all-conference and all-state performer. She was named the team's Most Valuable Performer her freshman year at Rockford Thomas Jefferson High School and received all-county honors her junior year at Vernon Hills High School.
Marquita Vines is a hurdler from Richton Park. She was a national finalist at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics. The senior was named outstanding performer and team MVP at Rich Central High School.
Lindsay Wagner is a distance runner from Mt. Vernon. She is a four-time state qualifier in cross country and a three-time state qualifier in track. Wagner received all-state recognition in the 1600 meters her sophomore and junior seasons and has a personal best of 5:03.79. She has been an all-south selection each year in both cross country and track. She is also a five-time conference champ in cross country and track at Mt. Vernon High School.
Nicole Houdek is a high jumper from North Royalton, Ohio. She was an All-American for Cuyahoga Community College and also received all-conference honors. Houdek set conference and state records in high school.
Yvonne Cohen is a sprinter for Barton County Community College. She was named team MVP all four years at Eastern High School of Commerce in Toronto, and performed at the state championship meet in Canada in the 100 and 200 meters and the long jump.
