Gray and Ahuna Lead Women's Track At Cannon Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Latrice Gray placed first in the high jump and Mariann Ahuna finished third in the triple jump to lead the Southern Illinois University women's track and field team this weekend at the unscored Butler University "Cannon Classic".
Gray cleared five feet, 7 3/4 inches in the high jump and Ahuna jumped 40 feet, 6 1/4 inches to highlight SIU's performance in the competitive 38-school meet.
A pair of freshmen added strong fifth-place showings, as Inna Turevsky had a triple jump of 39-feet, 1 3/4 inches, and Katy Ritten was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 43 feet, 5 inches. Sophomore Noa Beitler also placed fifth in the mile (4:54.24).
Other top-10 finishes for SIU included Ritten (10th, Weight Throw, 47-5) and Marian Appiah-Kubi (8th, 400m, 56.72).
Other SIU results include: Kelsey Toussiant (11th, 60m, 7.76, 11th, 200m, 25.01), Shaneka Williams (26th, 200m, 26.20), Korto Dunbar (44th, 400m, 1:02.80, 12th, 60m hurdles, 9.10), Julia Roundtree (23rd, 800m, 2:18.07), Christen Carducci (45th, Mile, 5:18.62), Katie Meehan (19th, 3,000m, 10:26.13), and Carla Hill (15th, shot put, 34-11, 17th, weight throw, 36-11 1/2).
The Saluki women will return home this weekend for the USA Open.
