Carbondale, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University (2-5) men's tennis team beat Illinois-Chicago 6-1 on Sunday at University Courts. The win snapped a three-match losing streak.
SIU won five of six singles matches (Alon Savidor, Richard Booth, Julian Angel Botero, Lukasz Soswa, Gian Carlo Remigio) and all three doubles matches for the easy 6-1 victory.
The only match the Salukis didn't win was a three-set thriller lost by top singles player Peter Bong 10-7 in the final set.
The Salukis will face Southwest Missouri State (Apr. 6) and Wichita State (Apr. 7) next week at home in MVC play.
SIU lost matches earlier in the weekend to Evansville (4-3) on March 29 and Ball State (6-1) on March 30 on the road.
