Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University (4-2) has added a game against MacMurray (Ill.) College, a Division III school in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference, on Tuesday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Abe Martin Field.
SIU head baseball coach Dan Callahan announced this morning that the game against the Highlanders (0-0) would be added and will now serve as the home-opener after last weekend's games against Western Illinois were cancelled.
"We haven't played since we beat Notre Dame. We checked around and couldn't find any Division I opponents to play on short notice so we decided to play MacMurray College and this will be their first game. We're just looking forward to playing a game on Tuesday," said Callahan.
"Our goal was to play Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday in addition to the Wednesday game we have with them but they played last weekend so they didn't need another game."
The Salukis will face Tennessee-Martin on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. in Martin, Tennessee.
SIU has also made changes to its schedule regarding Murray State. The SIU-MSU game on April 23 at 3 p.m. in Carbondale has been moved to Murray, Kentucky. The game cancelled earlier this year with Murray State will be made up on April 30 at 3 p.m. in Carbondale.
