Morehead, Ky. - Southern Illinois moved up three spots to post an eighth place finish at the Greg Palmer Eagle Classic earlier today. The Salukis concluded the two-day event with a final score of 894.

SIU stood in 11th place with a two-round score of 603 following the first day of play. Shooting 295 in their second set of 18 holes, the Salukis improved their third-round score (291) by four strokes which boosted them into the eighth place spot.

Senior Brad Dunker shot rounds of 75, 74 and 71 en route to tying for 19th. Dunker, who was SIU's only top-20 individual placewinner, was followed by Josh Wheeler (225) who tied for 41st.

SIU was one of 15 teams competing in this year's event which was won by Eastern Kentucky (856). Wright State (868) and Tennessee Tech (873) then finished second and third, respectively, while Morehead State (874) and Lipscomb (883) rounded out the top five.

SIU will return to the links on April 22 when it competes at the Illinois Intercollegiate State Championship.
