Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University (22-15, 10-10 MVC) will step out of league play to face Murray State University (14-19, 9-9 OVC) in Murray, Ky. on Tuesday, April 23 at 3 p.m.
The April 23 game was originally scheduled in Carbondale but was moved to Murray, Ky. after the Feb. 27 game cancelled earlier this year with Murray State was moved to Carbondale on April 30 at 3 p.m.
The Salukis have won five of their last six, including three of four from Evansville last weekend at home to win their first MVC series of the year and first-ever series against the Purple Aces in MVC play.
"We need to take this midweek game seriously and play well like we did last week. The SEMO win last Wednesday started us on a roll and we want to keep playing well going in the weekend," said Ken Henderson, Saluki associate coach.
SIU split with Murray State last year, losing 4-3 on the road in ten innings and winning 4-2 in ten innings on Cory Newman's walk-off home run. Murray State has won four of its last five after losing six in a row.
The Salukis will start sophomore Bill Clayton (1-1), who won his first game of the year last week in the midweek game against SEMO.
The game will be played at Reagan Field on the Murray State campus on Tuesday, April 23 at 3 p.m. in Murray, Ky.
