Construction underway on new softball stadium

Construction has begun on the new, $1.5 million softball stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University, with an expected completion date in early 2003.
The new stadium will have a capacity of 500 and include chairback seating.
Fager-McGee is supervising the project, which also features new dugouts, a concession stand, bathrooms, lockerroom facilities, two batting cages, lights, a press box, training room, laundry facilities and an irrigation system.
The stadium is currently in the demolition phase. Relocation of telephone and ethernet cable to the press box has also been completed.
