Women's Basketball Announces 2002-03 Schedule, Ticket Prices

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's women's basketball team announced its 2002-03 schedule earlier today. In addition to an 18-game league slate, the Salukis will face teams from the Conference USA, Big Ten, SEC, Ohio Valley, Atlantic Sun, Sun Belt and Big West conferences.
SIU's non-league schedule features some tough competition as Long Beach State (16-13), DePaul (15-14), Belmont (19-9), Tennessee Tech (22-8) and Middle Tennessee State (16-13) each finished the 2001-02 campaign in the top half of their respective conferences. Additionally, the Dawgs will visit SEC member Kentucky (9-20) and Big Ten foe Northwestern (4-24).
The Salukis will host just two non-conference games before taking to the road for the entire month of December. Following a two-day tournament in Long Beach, Calif., the Dawgs then return home to open league play against Southwest Missouri State.
"We'll see a lot of good competition in our non-conference schedule and hopefully that will help us prepare for league play," said head coach Lori Opp. "We'll see real early who we are and it will be a good challenge for us."
SIU tips off its 2002-03 season on Saturday, Nov. 23 when it plays host to DePaul at 5:05 p.m.
