Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's men's golf team returns to action this week at the D.A. Weibring Classic in Normal, Ill. The two-day event will begin tomorrow with 36 holes, before concluding on Tuesday with one last round of 18 holes.
The Salukis, who are currently led by senior Tim Hoss, will look to better their sixth-place finish from a week ago. Hoss, who holds a 71.3 stroke average after one tournament this season, fired a career-best mark of 67 in just his third round of play.
This year's D.A. Weibring Classic will consist of 15 teams, including UMKC, Bradley, Northern Iowa, Lewis, DePaul, Southeast Missouri State, Saint Louis, Drake, Southwest Missouri State, Creighton, Western Illinois, Evansville, SIU, Illinois State and Eastern Illinois.
The host Redbirds will look to defend their 2000-01 title after last year's tournament was cancelled due to inclement weather.
