The Salukis wrapped up an eventful invite Tuesday in Kentucky at the Paducah Country Club, competing in the Racers Intercollegiate. The team finished sixth overall after starting twelfth following the first round and ninth after the second, shooting +13 overall. The squad played significantly better over the final two rounds, earning their highest finish in their last three invites.
"We had a solid event for much of the golf tournament," said Director of Golf Justin Fetcho. "We were the second-best team overall combining rounds two and three. We just got off to a tough start in the first round, which ultimately cost us on the leaderboard. We played a lot of solid golf across the entirety of the event, and hopefully, that's something we can build on moving forward."
Lucas Lasley led the way for the Dawgs, recording his highest finish of the season at eighth overall with a -1 overall score. Fetcho praised Lasley's performance: "Great event by Luke. He played some amazing golf, and I couldn't be more proud to see him achieve his Saluki career-low finish this week. He has been working hard and played some strong golf at home prior to the event, and it carried over here. We look forward to him keeping the momentum going."
Anthony de Schutter finished 16th overall, shooting +1. Having won several tournaments during the fall, the Salukis expect him to return to the top soon.
"A solid week by Anthony as well," Fetcho said. "He had yet another Top-20 finish and is really close to breaking out. He's right there, and I know he's itching to get back in the winner's circle."
Blake Saffell and teammate Frank Bellino both finished tied for 33rd, shooting +5, while Ben Keil placed 42nd with a +7. Michael Mikus recorded the fourth highest finish of his young career, finishing at 49th overall and  +8.
Jaeseung Na had a relatively quiet invite after posting several top-ten finishes in 2026, finishing 62nd at +12.
"Overall, the week was a great learning experience for us," Fetcho said. "I believe if we reflect properly and analyze ourselves honestly, we will take a lot from this week. Individually, we have some guys who are very close to doing some really good things; it's just a matter of being a little more consistent and cleaning up some minor details."
The Salukis will return to action this Saturday at the Robert Kepler Invite.Â
