Carbondale, Ill. - The men's tennis team heads to the Middle Tennessee Classic this weekend in hopes of starting the season off with some wins. The three day event will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-22.
Five players, Peter Bong, Alon Savidor, Julian Angel Botero, Gian Carlo Remigio and Lukasz Soswa, will return to action for the Salukis this season. Head coach Missy Jeffrey has been in the process of rebuilding the men's tennis team and believes things are falling into place.
"We still have a fairly young group of guys," said Jeffrey. "This year we plan to continue making progress toward our goal of breaking into the Top-50. This team has the ability to do good things this year."
Also participating in this year's Middle Tennessee Classic are Arkansas-Little Rock, Auburn, Austin Peay, Evansville, Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Ouachita Baptist, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and the host Middle Tennessee State.
