Freshman Bojan Ilievski Reaches Finals At MVC Individual Championships

Des Moines, Iowa - Freshman Bojan Ilievski of the men's tennis team was able to make his way into the No. 6 singles final round at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships this weekend. The tournament, held at the Drake Tennis Center, was Ilievski's first collegiate action since joining the Salukis this January.
Pushing past first round opponent Ciaran Foley (INS) with a score of 6-4, 6-4, Ilievski then convincingly defeat Shingirayi Nyagura (SMS) 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals. His journey to the championship would be cut short by Ivan d'Argence of Indiana State, who won 6-1, 6-4.
Two other Salukis, senior Gian Carlo Remigio and freshman Tomas Gonzalez were able to capture the No. 5 and No. 7 consolation singles crowns. Remigio (#5) lost his first round match against Ben Pettinari (ILS) 6-2, 6-2, but was able to recover through the consolation rounds to face Pettinari once again and win 6-2, 5-7, 1-0(8).
Gonzalez lost his first round match against the eventual No. 7 champion Ben Cramp (WSU) 6-1, 7-5. He then received a bye in the first consolation round to advance and crush Juan Escalante (WSU) 6-0, 6-0.
