Women's Cross Country Is Runner-Up At Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The women's cross country team continued a season of success as it posted a second-place finish at its own Saluki Invitational Saturday morning.

The Salukis (53) were defeated by Missouri Valley Conference rival Indiana State (28) as the Sycamores placed all five scoring runners in the top ten. ISU senior Jessica Crowder won the individual title with a time of 18:02.72 - twenty-seven seconds faster than the runner-up.

SIU was led once again by lone senior Noa Beitler (18:41.94) and freshman Lindsay Wagner (18:52.37) who finished third and fourth. Freshmen Cherylynn Schilling and Sarah Rinker finished in 11th and 12th with times of 19:21.29 and 19:24.21, respectively. Freshman Katie Birn (25th) rounded out the top five runners for SIU with a time 20:10.60.

The Salukis will return to action next weekend at the Illini Challenge on Oct. 18. The meet will take place in Champaign, Ill. Results can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com.
