Men's Tennis Continues Action at the ITA Regional Championships

TULSA, OK. - In the second day of the ITA Regional Championships the Salukis fell short in some hard fought battles.
While losing some close matches, the Salukis were able to pull off some wins. Junior Alexandru Nomicos won his first match in the round of 64 by defeating Joel Reckeway of Nebraska 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Nomicos went on to the round of 32 but was beaten by Ikaika Jobe of Saint Louis 6-2, 6-4.
While Nomicos was able to advance, two of his fellow teammates did not have as good of luck. Senior Peter Bong was defeated in his first match by Anthony Perkins of Drake 6-1, 6-3, while sophomore Lukasz Soswa was beaten 6-1, 6-1 by Felipe Montenegro of Drake. While being defeated in tournament play, Bong and Soswa were able to continue playing in the back draw of the consolation bracket.
Bong moved on in the consolation bracket as he defeated Derrick Kinchelue of Evansville 6-3, 6-2. Soswa was also able to advance as he was granted a bye to the next round. The Salukis did not have there finest showing in doubles play as Peter Bong and doubles partner Tomas Gonzalez were defeated 8-1 from a duo out of Oklahoma and Bojan Ilievski and Lukasz Soswa feel to a 8-5 defeat from Shimizu and Taylor of Tulsa.
