Men's Tennis Dominates On First Day Of Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The men's tennis team continued their winning streak from last weekend as they won seven matches on the first day of the Louisville Invitational Friday.
Five Salukis advanced past there first round match ups and look to continue their success tomorrow at the invitational. Lone senior Peter Bong advanced to the second round of Flight A Singles after defeating Brian Butt of Wright State, 6-2, 6-3. Along with Bong, # 8 seeded junior Alex Nomicos defeated Joao Pinho of Ausin Peay, 6-3, 6-3, leading him to a second round match in the Flight A singles tomorrow morning.
Sophomores Bojan Ilievski and Tomas Gonzalez advanced past there first round match ups in the Flight B singles. Ilievski defeated Nick Tarvin of IUPUI in dominating fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Gonzalez defeated Will Wang of DePaul in a close three set match, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1. Junior Julian Angel Botero also will participate in the second round tomorrow as he defeated Nabil Lababedi of Austin Peay, 6-3, 6-1, in Flight C singles.
The Salukis had similar success in the doubles action on the first day with two of three duos advancing to the next round. Nomicos and Botero crushed a duo from Austin Peay 8-1 in Flight C doubles, while Ilievski and teammate, junior Lukasz Soswa, defeated the # 2 seeded team of Reckeway and Jayu of Nebraska, 8-3, in Flight B doubles.
