Hosick Named MVC Men's Golfer of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Freshman Kyle Hosick was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, announced today by the league office. Hosick finished second out of 92 golfers at the Shangri La Shootout earlier this week.
A native of Carmi, Ill., Hosick was the top Valley individual, as he was runner-up medalist with a five-under-par 211, which included a tournament-low 68 on the event's final round. His 68 is the lowest 18-hole score of any Saluki this season.
After four tournaments this year, Hosick ranks second on the team with a 72.3 stroke average. Additionally, he has posted 11 rounds in the 70s and one in the 60s.
Five of six MVC men's golf teams competed at the Shangri La Shootout this week. SIU finished fourth, while Drake (10th), Illinois State (T11th), Northern Iowa (T11th) and SMS (T13th) also were there.
Hosick is the second straight Saluki to win the weekly award. Brian Norman was named the league's Golfer of the Week on Oct. 1.
