Track and Field Hosts USA T&F Open

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University's track and field teams will host the USA Track and Field Open Friday and Saturday at the SIU Student Recreation Center. The non-scored meet will feature close to 20 schools.

The meet will kick off Friday at 5 p.m. with the men's 35lb. weight throw followed by the women. The men's pole vault competition and the women's long jump will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, field and running events will start at 9 a.m. with the women's pole vault, shot put, and 55m dash.

"The athletes will be competing in their events this weekend," said women's head coach Connie Price-Smith. "They will probably be competing in the events they will be doing at conference. I'm just looking for everyone to compete hard."
