Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois University will wrap up a five-game homestand at Charlotte West Stadium - Rochman Field with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Tennessee-Martin (8-7) on Wednesday.
The Salukis (13-4, 2-1 MVC) won the first two games at Charlotte West Stadium - Rochman Field against Bradley last Saturday, before losing the series finale on Sunday.
"We want to win these games to get the bad taste out of our mouth from Sunday's loss. Tennessee-Martin is a much-improved team and they lost to Evansville by one run. They have some good players from the Southern Illinois area so it should be good softball to watch," said Kerri Blaylock, SIU head coach.
"I want to see some intensity from our team. I want to see us attack and play well from the first pitch of the first game to the last pitch of the second game. We're young and we need to understand that it's a long season and you have to be focused the whole season to be successful."
SIU is led by Kelly Creek (.353 BA, 2 HR, 5 2B, 12 RBI), Katie Jordan (.349, 6 HR, 12 RBI), Jenny Doehring (.286, HR, 3 2B, 9 RBI) and Katie Louis (.277, 3 HR, 2 2B, 10 RBI). Pitchers Renee Mueller (5-1, 0.58 ERA) and Amy Harre (7-3, No-hitter, 1.11 ERA) lead the SIU pitching staff.
