Men's Tennis To Finish Non-conference Schedule On Wednesday

Carbondale, Ill. - The men's tennis team will face the Murray State Racers for the second time in less than a week to finish out its non-conference schedule. The match will begin at 12 noon, and take place at the University Courts next to the SIU Arena. This is the third home match of the spring for the Salukis.
SIU is 3-2 this season, and will look to snag its fourth straight win after a close lose to conference foe, Evansville, on March 22. The .600 start is the best for an SIU men's team since the 1997-98 season when the Salukis also went 3-2 in their first five matches, eventually garnering a sixth place finish in the MVC.
Three men's tennis players have impressed head coach Missy Jeffrey. Senior Gian Carlo Remigio, and freshmen Bojan Ilievski and Tomas Gonzalez, lead the team in singles wins with five, and hope to extend that number. The trio has helped SIU win a combined 11 of 12 matches at the Nos. 4, 5, and 6 singles positions during the last four competitions - a trend Jeffrey hopes will continue.
