Three Track and Field Athletes Qualify For Mideast Regional

Bloomington, Ind. - Three SIU male track and field athletes qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional at the Billy Hayes Invitational earlier today at Indiana University. The regional meet will be held May 30-31 at Ohio State.
Felix Anderson and B.J. Davis both turned in regional clockings in the 400m. Both ran season bests with Anderson finishing in 46.97 and Davis in 47.42. Chris Cline recorded a regional mark in the hammer with a season best 185-11.
SIU's 4x100m relay unit placed first crossing the finish line in 41.27. Freshman Ray Scotten cleared 17-0.75 to win the pole vault competition.
Senior Marvin Primo was .03 seconds off from qualifying in the 200m (20.23). Davis finished in 22.31 and Emmanuele Parris in 22.79.
Kellen Allen and Paul Whittaker both cleared 6-4.75 in the high jump to tie for ninth.
The Salukis had five run in the 100m: Primo (10.81), Brent Little (10.89), Kevin Mills (10.95), Parris (10.97), and Luke Stenberg (10.97).
Little jumped 22-2.5 in the long jump. Doron Giat ran 4:10.29 in the 1500m.
SIU had one woman compete this weekend. Venisha Williams threw her second best mark of the season in the hammer (159-8).
No team scores were kept and no finals were run.
Up next for SIU is the Missouri Valley Conference outdoor championships. The meet will begin Thursday and run through Saturday at McAndrew Stadium/Lew Hartzog Track on SIU's campus.
