Carbondale, Ill. - Junior Noa Beitler of the women's track team and freshman Felix Anderson of the men's track team will head to the finals of their respective events tomorrow, day two of the NCAA Mideast Regional track meet. Beitler qualified for the 800m final with an eighth place (2:08.20) preliminary finish, while Anderson grabbed fourth place (46:58) in the 400m preliminaries.
Junior Korto Dunbar just missed making a finals appearance in the women's 100m hurdles, placing ninth. She did, however, pull out a personal best, running 13.43. Freshman Megan Cenkush snagged 20th place (38.70m) in the women's javelin throw. Sophomore Katy Ritten finished 33rd (13.10m) in the women's shotput. Junior Wille Davis finished the day at 14th place (47:46) in the men's 400m.
Beitler dropped her spot in the 1500m, citing the difficulty of running two events in one day, and focusing her attention on the 800m. Sophomore Chris Cline, who qualified for the men's hammer throw, did not make the trip to Ohio for unspecified reasons.
Tomorrow presents day two of action from Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, as well as the appearances of sophomores Inna Turevsky, Eli Baker, and Dayton Johnson, senior Latrice Gray, and freshman Ray Scotten. Gray returns to the NCAA's after a trip to the national meet two years ago. Scotten, the freshman phenom, goes into the pole vault with the best ranking, and a good chance to qualify for the national meet.
