Goltz Named Scholar-Athlete All-MVC

Carbondale, Ill. - Senior Grant Goltz was named to the 2003 Missouri Valley Conference men's golf scholar-athlete team, announced today by the league office. Goltz holds a 3.78 GPA in Business Economics.
A native of Gibson City, Ill., Goltz played in 11 of 12 tournaments, where he registered 25 rounds in the 70s. Finishing among the top-15 individual placewinners at three tournaments, Goltz fired a season-low of 68 in the third round of the Billiken Invitational (4/14-15). Additionally, his highest finish was when he tied for eighth on two occasions -- at the Branson Creek Invite (4/7-8) and Billiken Invitational (4/14-15).
A total of 20 student-athletes in the league met the criteria for the award, with the top six vote-getters (plus ties) receiving first-team scholar-athlete status. Golf sports information directors in the conference voted for the award.
