Men's Tennis Tops Eastern Kentucky, 4-3

RICHMOND, Ky. - The men's tennis team grabbed another win Sunday as it defeated Eastern Kentucky University, 4-3. Once again, it was the middle of the line-up giving SIU the edge over its opponents.
Juniors Lukas Soswa, Julian Angel Botero and Tomas Gonzalez were all key contributors in the win against EKU.
Soswa defeated Mario Simic, 7-6, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot, while Botero and Gonzalez were able to pull out victories at the No. 4 and 5 spot, respectively. The three wins split the score 3-3 prior to the doubles action.
In doubles competition, junior Alex Nomicos and Botero defeated Alvin Cheng and Chris Jacques, 9-7, in a hard fought match at the No. 2 spot. Following Nomicos and Botero's lead, senior Peter Bong and Gonzalez beat Tom Wospil and Billy Pfaffinger by the same score, 9-7, at the No. 3 doubles spot to earn the doubles point.
