Byrne Wins Second MVC Athlete of the Week Award

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University men's cross country junior Joe Byrne was named Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
A native of Down Patrick, Ireland, Byrne finished first out of 96 runners to top SIU's first-place finish in the Saluki Invitational last weekend.
He ran a 24:50.02 8K time en route to his third individual title of the season. His time also marked the second, where he finished an 8K race under 25 minutes this season.
Byrne's recent mark currently ranks third-best in an 8K race in the Valley this season.
