Botero Named MVC Tennis Player of The Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Junior Julian Angel Botero was named Missouri Valley Conference male tennis player-of-the-week Tuesday, as announced by the league office.
Botero posted a 2-1 record over this weekend against Marquette, Depaul and No. 73 Northern Illinois. Botero defeated Ricky Servoss, 6-4, 6-3, then topped Depaul's Radek Guzik in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, after losing the first set. He fell to NIU's Aaorn Forsberg, 6-4, 6-3.
Prior to this weekend, Botero defeated Eastern Kentucky's Alvin Cheng, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, in three sets. He also defeated Lipscomb University's Matt Chappell, 6-3, 6-2, and Alex Roby of Bradley, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (3). Botero went 1-1 at the MVC Individual Championships to give him an overall singles record of 6-2.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Botero has been honored by the conference.
