Men's Tennis Improves to 5-4 On The Season

CARBONDALE, Ill.- - Then men's tennis team picked up their fifth win of the season today as they knocked off Murray State 5-2 at the SIU Arena Tennis Courts.
The Salukis have their middle part of the lineup to thank for the win over the Racers. Juniors Alexandru Nomicos and Julian Angel Botero, along with sophomore Bojan Ilievski, gave the Salukis three big wins at the No.2 through No. 4 spots.
Nomicos defeated Masimba Muskwe (5-7, 6-1, 6-2) at the No. 2 spot while Ilievski defeated Adam Maskill (7-5, 2-6, 6-4) at the No. 3 spot. Botero improved to 6-4 with his win over Clayton Clark at the No. 4 spot. Also contributing in the win over Murray State was sophomore Tomas Gonzalez as he came up with a victory over Chris Morgan at the No. 6 spot.
In doubles play the Salukis took two out of three from the Racers as Nomicos and Botero teamed up to defeated Lester and Morgan (8-5) at the No. 2 doubles spot, while Senior Peter Bong and Gonzalez defeated Marskill and Jacobs (8-4)
The Salukis will host their next two matches as SIU will welcome Chicago State and the University of Illinois-Chicago on Mar. 20-21.
