CARBONDALE, Ill. - The men's tennis team will begin play in the Missouri Valley Conference Thursday, March 25 as they will travel to Evansville, Ind. to play the Aces of Evansville University.
The Salukis hope to have the same success in the MVC as they have had in their opening non-conference matches where they have posted an 8-4 record. The Dawgs will be looking to senior Peter Bong, who has been playing exceptionally well as of late, to lead the team to victory over the Aces. Bong picked up three impressive wins this past weekend as he improved to 16-13 on the year at the No. 1 singles position. Also playing well for SIU are juniors Alexandru Nomicos and Julian Angel Botero and sophomore Bojan Ilievski, who colletctivley posted four shutouts this past weekend against Chicago State and Illinois-Chicago at the No. 2-4 singles spots.
After Thursday's match-up with UE the Salukis will continue conference play as they host their next three matches against MVC teams on April, 2-4. The Salukis are scheduled to play Indiana State on April, 2, Illinois State on April 3, and Bradley on April 4.
