Men's Tennis Push Winning Streak to Six Matches

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In their first match of Missouri Valley Conference play the Salukis were able to notch a 6-1 victory over Evansville as SIU continued to add to what is now a six match winning streak.
The entire cast for SIU contributed to yesterday's impressive victory, as the Dawgs shut out the Aces in doubles play and only gave up one match point in singles play. The Salukis took all three doubles matches as sophomore Bojan Ilievski and junior Lukasz Soswa defeated UE Boland and Gorewicz at the No. 1 doubles spot, while senior Peter Bong teamed up with sophomore Tomas Gonzalez to knock off Datashvili and Kincheloe at the No. 2 spot and juniors Alexandru Nomicos and Julian Angle Botero posted a win at the No. 3 spot with a 8-0 shut out over Grose and Scott.
In singles play Nomicos continued to play exceptionally well as he posted his fourth consecutive win as he knocked off Levan Datashvili at the No. 2 singles spot and Julian Angel Botreo improved to 11-4 on the season as he defeated Jason Gorewicz at the No. 3 spot. Soswa gave the Salukis their only shutout of the day as he blanked Austin Scott 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
The Salukis will continue MVC play as they are schedule to host their next three matches against Indiana State on April 2, Illinois State on April 3, and Bradley on April 4. All results and recaps of matches can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com.
