Ray Scotten Named MVC Athlete-of-the-Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Sophomore Ray Scotten continued to receive honors with his success as a pole vaulter at the Division I level. Scotten, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., was named the Missouri Valley Conference field athlete of the week for his performance at the Spring Classic last weekend.
Scotten said prior to last weekend's Spring Classic that he would be happy if he cleared 17 feet. In true Ray Scotten fashion, he did much more than that. The recently named indoor All-American, posted a height of 17-09.25, breaking his own school record and qualifying for the NCAA Regional. Scotten was more than two feet better than his nearest competitor.
