CARBONDALE, Ill. - After their six match win streak was snapped last weekend the Salukis have struggled to get anything moving in the positive direction. With today's loss to the Shockers of Wichita State the Dawgs fall to 9-9 on the season and 1-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
SIU's only bright spots in today's match up were sophomore Tomas Gonzalez's win at the No. 6 singles spot and Gonzalez's doubles victory at the No. 2 spot as the sophomore teamed up with senior Peter Bong to defeat Gubic and Vajaklija of WSU 8-4.
The Salukis dropped the doubles point to the Shockers along with the No.1 through No. 5 singles matches. The Salukis will try to get above .500 on the season as they continue MVC play against Drake on April 18 and will face Creighton on April 19 to wrap up the regular season.
