Men's Tennis Defeats Creighton 4-3

Omaha, Neb. - The men's tennis team won a very close match as the Salukis end their regular season with a 4-3 victory over the Creighton Bluejays today in Omaha, Neb. The Salukis improved to .500 on the year as they have notched a 10-10 (2-7 MVC) record.
After capturing the doubles point to begin the day the Salukis were able to pick up three wins in singles play to defeat Creighton. Senior Peter Bong led the Salukis with a victory at the No. 1 singles spot over CU's Tom McCarthy (6-7, 4-6, 6-0). Also contributing to today's win were sophomore Tomas Gonzalez, who notched a win at the No. 5 spot over Eduardo Pignatari (6-4, 6-0) and junior Lukasz Soswa who notched a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Justin Dennie.
The Salukis head into the Missouri Valley Conference Championships next weekend with a 2-7 record in MVC play. Seedings for the tournament should be announced later this week. All results and statistics can be found at www.SIUSalukis.com
