Track and Field Teams Successful Day One of Hoosier Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Southern Illinois University men's and women's track and field teams advance 14 women and eight men to finals in 14 events of the Hoosier Relays hosted by Indiana University.
Mark Milleville made it to the finals in both the shot put (52-11.00) and weight throw (65-04.00) for the men. His toss in the weight was good enough to provisionally qualify the senior for the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
Brenton Siemons also qualified for the meet finals in both the shot and the weight, while Matt Weishaar and Joe Mueller both qualified in the weight.
Emmanuel Daux (8.18) made it through two qualifying rounds of the 60 meter hurdles to make it to finals on day two.
Rob Duncan (4:21.70) advanced to finals in the mile run, while Felix Anderson (49.37) and Antoine Jennings (49.86) both advanced in the 400 meter dash.
In the only event final on day one, the 3000 meter run, Eli Baker (8:28.03) and Joe Byrne (8:34.39) took second and fifth respectively.
On the women's side, Amarachi Ukabam was the top qualifier in both the weight throw (62-05.00) and shot put (52:08.00) for day two of competition, while Katy Ritten was the second-place qualifier in each event. Megan Cenkush and Brittany Riley qualified for finals in each event as well.
Venisha Williams and Janine Batchelor qualified in the shot put, while Inna Turevsky qualified for finals in both the long jump (17-09.75) and the triple jump (39-05.00).
In the running events, Brittani Christensen won the 3000 meter run in a time of 10:03.96.
Kelsey Toussaint (57.34) and Sherlenia Green (57.71) both made the finals in the 400 meter dash, while Ty-Nica Davis (1:37.03) qualified for finals in the 600 meter run.
Andrea Norris made it through the first round of the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.78 to make finals, while Katie Ringelestein (2:21.84) and Sheree Ledwell (2:24.43) both qualified for finals in the 800 meter run.
Leslie Murillo ran 9.17 in both the prelims and the semi-final round of the 60 meter hurdles to qualify for finals.
The final rounds of each event will resume Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
