Turner, Rinker named Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University sophomore Craig Turner and junior Sarah Rinker are this week's Regions Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
A sophomore running back, Turner was named Gateway Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week by the league office. Turner subbed for the injured Arkee Whitlock Saturday at Western Illinois and rushed for a career-high 142 yards and three touchdowns.
Turner has a 6.4 rushing average on the season and a 8.5 avg. for his career. He has a 3.1 GPA and is majoring in physical education.
Rinker finished second in the Saluki Invitational to lead SIU to a team title. It marked the third week in a row the junior from Pontiac, Ill., led the Dawgs. She ran the 5K in 17:53.81. Rinker is a social work major with a 3.9 GPA.
